Today I watched this video on Vimeo (embedded below) that was so well-made with a strong, effective message. I need to emphasize that this is a 30 minute long video – and usually I don’t watch anything beyond 5 minutes. But this is important, and I’m glad I sat through it. Now that I’ve watched it, I can do my part to spread the word and be part of history in the making.
Joseph Kony has been doing despicable acts to children in Uganda, Africa for 20 years, including abducting them, making them sex slaves, be child soldiers, forcing these kids to kill their parents, disfiguring them, killing them without a thought if they tried to escape.
Kony is one of the worst world’s war criminals and we as the citizen of the world need to come together and bring him to justice. In today’s world of social media, everybody gets connected to everybody else within seconds. So let’s do our part and make Kony famous. When he gets famous and everybody knows about him, it is easier to track him down.
The goal is to have him arrested by end of this year. So let’s do it!
What you can do:
Sign the pledge at KONY 2012
Watch and share this video.
I know it’s 30 minutes, but it’s worth the watch, trust me.
Get the KONY 2012 kit and other merchandise at the Invisible Children Store to make him be “visible” to the world.
Boyfriend and I are seriously thinking of getting bracelets and tees from here!
Donate to the Invisible Children
If you don’t want to do any of the above, then spread the word about Kony through word of mouth!
Special kudos to Jason Russell who wants to make the world a better place, and with that making me want to make a difference as well.
Thank you for being such a determined, brave and influential individual. The children of the future will thank you.
