It seems to me that it is a trend this fasting month to illustrate the Dos and Don’ts for the month using the signage concept.

Just this morning alone, I came across 3 different posters using signs to indicate what’s right and wrong for the month.

Well this one simply tells us that during the day in the fasting month, one should abstain from food & drinks, smoking, any sexual activity and pill popping (or plus ice cream, lol).

Out of these, I believe that smokers have the hardest time keeping away from cigarettes. However, some manage to quit smoking as a result from abstaining from it during the fasting month. Well I guess it’s all in the mind.

This second poster is a mix of do’s and don’ts, well except for the crossed-out devil. That is just reminding us that during the fasting month, all ghosts and evil are chained up. Which is pretty ironic this year since the 7th month (Hungry Ghost Festival) coincides with Ramadhan.

So the Do’s in this poster are: be kind and generous, be happy and sincere & plenty of prayers.

And the final poster (ripped from Tina & Maurina, hehe):

This poster is slightly more detailed than the previous two, and has more to offer as well. Things such as lowering your gaze (modesty), not cursing or swearing and not getting into fights are often ignored on normal days. Personally, I try abstaining from swearing during the fasting month.

However I am always guilty of wasting time on useless activities. Come on, in the digital age, you are surrounded by gadgets that lead to useless activities – and that includes listening to music.

I think having these posters are effective in a way that it reminds all Muslims what they can and cannot do during the holy month. They also educate non-Muslims about the fasting month, so that they will have a better understanding of it.

Here are 9 cool advertisements I’ve found online:

1. This was sent as a direct mail to the chief of 6 of the most popular women’s magazines in the Netherlands.

2. Creative lift advertising

3. This series of ads will make you feel strong. Meiji pasted life-sized stickers of “strong men” on revolving doors in several buildings. When you leave or enter the building, it would feel as if you pushed those strong men quite easily. The tagline – “Milk makes you stronger, Meiji”.

4. These are road stickers for Pioneer Suspensions:

5. Fed Ex – Making the world a lot smaller

6. A very REAL feel for this Lays potato chips advertisement

7. Clever use of Ikea drawers as creative balconies!

8. Very clever ad for a women’s hairdresser

9. Very smart ad for hair products (possibly hair colouring products) – that makes use of literal natural resources!

I have quite a few threadless tees. I was looking through the pics in my phone and realized that I am forever taking pics of the tees I wear. So, here are some of the tees that I have. If photos are not in the best resolution, it’s only because it’s taken with a phone camera.

A Birth Day threadless tee

This one is called A Birth Day. It is just meant to be a funny cute tshirt about what could happen if a cow and a chicken having a baby. But come to think of it, I am that spotted egg.

Hello, mixed parentage? I swear it just crossed my mind as I was typing out this post. Maybe that’s what my new nick can be: A Spotted Egg.

Rock Out with your Cock Out threadless tee

I love this one. This one is called Rock Out with your Cock Out. See the rooster at the bottom left? What cock were you thinking of? Tsk, tsk. I bought this after we got the PS3 and played several rounds of rockband. Makes you feel like a rockstar, haha.

Oh wait, I just realised that the rooster isnt visible in this photo.

rock out

There you go :D

self portait threadless tee

Another one of my favourites. This one is called Self potrait. It shows a monster drawing a picture of himself. Well my photo doesnt show the full picture but this is how it looks like in full:

self potrait tee full view

Cute isn’t it?

And the last tee that I have a photo of is Playin’ in the Sprinkles:

Playin' in the Sprinkler threadless tee

It’s not very clear but it simply shows an ice cream and a donut playing in rainbow sprinkles, probably explaining how ice creams and donuts get to have sprinkles on them.

Yes I make up cute stories all the time. And because it is unclear and not shown in full, this is how it actually looks like:

It’s been awhile since I shopped at threadless. Looking at these pics now, it’s making me want to.. shop.

Perhaps after my pay is in for the month.

Last night, a bunch of us went to watch the musical Cats. While it had so much promise, it wasn’t really the great evening that I had imagined.

To start of, we were sitting too high up and too far away. I didn’t know this was going to be the case because I didn’t select the seats. All I know was that one day in January, FP called me and told me we are all going to watch Cats in April.

So, yesterday was a very much different musical experience from the one I had some years back when I watched Peterpan (the musical). I saw every detail, heard every sound. I was so close to the stage that I was completely absorbed in the performance.

But last night.. while it was still nice to watch, I wish we weren’t so far away. It would have been so perfect if we had been on ground level and seen the costumes, the makeup and be sucked into the magic of the musical itself.

before the show

But despite the shortcomings, I still quite enjoyed the show. Well, halfway through I got bored; then slightly annoyed because I always like to be able to see things clearly. But my nonstop applause at the end of the entire performance overwrote all the negative factors of my personal experience.

I absolutely adore the the gorgeous and fantabulous set, the convincing sound effects and of course the brilliant lighting. Love it, love it, love it! If you’d notice, these are the things I can appreciate fully even from afar. :)

I just wished.. I could have a better view. I want to watch Cats again! :( *whiny spoilt brat mode*

And of course, my favouritest song out of the lot was Memories. Maybe it’s because it’s the only song I know from Cats prior to watching it – but it was really heartwrenching hearing it live. It was brilliant. :) I sang along again and again and again even though the only part I know was “Memories, all alone in the moonlight..” LOL.

The characters are pretty much defined, and unique in their own ways. But the one I absolutely love is.. Rum Tum Tugger. I WANT TO TAKE HIM HOME. He exudes a certain attitude that only a rockstar has. Yes, he is a rockstar cat. With a couldn’t care less attitude, apparently good looking in that rugged way, vain and has groupies falling at his feet. And still, he couldn’t care less.

Me likey. Is it wrong for me to think he’s hot? But seriously, he was the coolest cat out of the entire lot. He has the loudest applause at curtain call. I LIKE.

I found a video of the introduction of Rum Tum Tugger in Cats on youtube. Please enjoy your daily dose of cool sexiness below. You’re very welcome. Do let me know if you fall all over him too :P

You’re very welcome ;)

Of course we got souvenirs! I got myself the program booklet (oh so useful after watching the show. Wouldn’t you want to know who played Rum Tum Tugger too? And I also got a charm keychain. Pretty!

Elly got herself a Purrrfect tshirt. Very nice too, except that I wasn’t in the mood for tshirts. Grouchy much?

Photo of my program booklet, a couple of tickets and Elly’s tshirt. I am still too lazy to take a photo of my keychain. :(

Other photos from the evening:

Very nice photo of FP and I :)

We went to eat at Makansutra. Nice view, but food’s just average. Oh well.

I really love the lamp exhibit at the esplanade! Very, very pretty! :D

Overall an evening that was made pleasant and fun with great company :)

Thanks you guys, when’s the next musical *looks at Kawan C*
