This is farty. Full name: arty farty. (name is all in small caps because he’s kinda pretentious). Slim, sleek and sexy – what’s not to like?

He is a 13″ Macbook Air, with an i7 processor and he is my latest gadget buy – replacing my good old pink Sony Vaio, which was getting older and sicker by the day.

So the day he arrived was also the day after I cracked my iphone screen. So I really wasn’t in the mood for anything that day. Not even unboxing this beautiful piece of genius gadget could lift my spirits. But anyway, things has gotten better since then.

For one thing, he grew a mustache (which is actually a decal). I don’t normally like my men to have any facial hair but you gotta admit that this farty does look good with this mustache. Still pretentious but whatever looks good on you, baby.

Then I discovered Twitter for Mac. I’m a sucker for sleek interfaces and being a heavy user of Twitter, this truly contributes to the farty brownie points award.

Sorry echofon (within firefox), looks like this time round, I won’t be dancing with you.

Next up would be my obsession with photo booth (which has thankfully subsided). I didn’t really take photos with photo booth but what I did was even worse. I could spend a long period of time, just looking at myself through all the weird filters. I am easily amused and I do not have a problem laughing at myself. So this was perfect. The “chipmunk effect” cracked me up the most. As in laugh out loud kind of cracked up.

I am demented, I know. Worse still I too screenshots of these moments. These are just a few. Check it out:

This could keep me entertained for hours. FP gave me dirty looks and asked me, “So you got yourself a mac and this is ALL you do with it?!”

I ignored him.

Finally, we got him a customized sleeve from Timbuk2. Somehow the order got glitched and what was meant to be a small sleeve became a large sleeve (not anybody’s fault. Besides, the good people at Timbuk2 has given me a 70% off discount code for my next purchase!). But I guess it’s cool. Now I can store my magic mouse and the charger all in one sleeve!

I find it so cute that the Timbuk2 included these cool polaroid kind of photo tags. The sleeve was “born in San Francisco” because it’s customized! Cute!

It was only after I’ve showered and settled down for the night that I realized the cracks. It didn’t register to me immediately (because I can be slow at times), and I was wondering why I can’t see the stuff on my phone clearly. I only realized what had happened a moment later and I totally freaked out.

And after freaking out, I started crying. You need to understand I have an abnormal attachment to all my personal belongings, especially my gadgets. I blame my demented childhood as an only child. I used to cry when my favourite doll had to be sewn up because she was badly torn/damaged. It felt like my best friend was going through surgery and is in a lot of pain. Strangely this logic followed me to adulthood as crazy as that may seem.

So when I saw my phone in that damaged state , my heart literally ached. It was really painful to see it like that, injured and broken. And to make it worse, it was all my fault. I went straight to bed that night and was totally down and out the whole of the next day. Seriously, it was as if somebody died. Even the arrival of farty, my macbook air (you will soon be introduced to my new knight in shining whatever) that day did not lift my mood.

It was too nasty a damage to be sent to the Apple Centre, and it would certainly cost me a bomb. Even if I were to go back to Singtel with it, I would have to pay a hefty amount too for a brand new phone. Which left me and FP two options: send it to a normal phone shop to repair it (slightly expensive) or 2) get the screen from an online store and fix it ourselves (cheapest option but there’s a risk of things going completely wrong).

FP being a handy dandy man, decided that he is up for the challenge of fixing it himself. So he found the screen online, and it arrived 2 days back. Tonight he fixed it for me. As if it’s not a good enough challenge as it is, he just had to do it when he’s as sick as a puppy. But it’s all good now. Took him more than an hour to dismantle and replace the screen and then put everything back together.

I’m really so proud of him, and in awe that he persisted through the ordeal of fixing it despite the killer flu. He’s a lifesaver, a real life prince. My prince

I mean, just look at the tiny screws that he had to deal with:

He’s really too awesome. His dedication totally swept me off my feet tonight. I could honestly bear with my cracked screen for a few more days really. But he fought through it.

And to anyone who needs to fix their cracked phone and adamant to try it for themselves, here is a video that was provided to us when we got the screen. It’s pretty complex but if you think you need a challenge, go for it!

And today he received a new leather casing from Clay Smith.

(Well, it’s actually a birthday present to me from the mister, one full month in advance. I don’t normally accept/open presents unless it’s on my birthday itself or after but this is an exception. Because it is not just for me, it’s also for Sir Olympus. See how we spoil him?)

So when I was given this box, I really did not know what to expect. Caught totally off guard by it, I actually began to think that it was a miniature camera of some sort. Well what do I know, right? So I opened the box, and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a set of leather casing and straps!

Prior to this, Sir Olympus has been donning and off-white leather casing which we got through ebay and a red Crumpler “Popular Disgrace” strap. Which looked alright on him. But all that is forgotten when I saw how really pretty this set from Clay Smith is.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

So my Olympus Pen EPL-2 looks like such a handsome fella right now. <3

And this is yet another example why men shouldn’t camwhore. They are bad at it.

So I’ve joined the bandwagon of buying lenses for my camera. Sir Olympus, the white knight extraordinaire, couldn’t have been more pleased.

(Yes, I name my things – which is probably why I get attached to inanimate objects)

I sold off one of my two kit lenses yesterday. Heartbreak. Still waiting for a buyer for the other one, another impending heartbreak. But let’s focus on today.

Today, I bought a pancake lens for Sir Olympus. A Lumix 20mm f/1.7 to be exact. Do you know what this means? I don’t either. To me, it means that now I can take bokeh-licious photos!

We also went to Cedele to satisfy a random cake craving. The cakes weren’t that great (too dry!) but they look good enough for photos:

This was a “chocolate nougat cake”. The best part of it were the tiny chocolate balls.

FP’s gula melaka cake. As exotic (and yummy) as that sounds, it was an utter disappointment.

But I guess these photos have proven what the Lumix pancake lens is capable of, and I am very very happy with my first lens purchase.

Personally, my favourite photos are of the cakes, and coming a close second/third is the bokeh shot

Hoping this doesn’t snowball into an expensive habit, though I have a feeling I’m gonna have so much fun with it for more than just a little while.

I just got up from a nap (that was induced by drowsy medication) and after fiddling with my blackberry, I thought I’d try out blogging using WordPress for Blackberry. All from the convenience of the bed, while the TV was showing cartoons on Nickelodeon.

I’ve downloaded this app last week but upon seeing that I couldn’t properly preview photos that I wanted to insert in the post, I closed the app and forgot all about it. But today, because I was sick, I thought I’d just overcome that slight glitch and try this mobile blogging anyway.

So I happily typed and typed on my lovely phone, enjoying the process. I made sure I saved the draft as I went along (oh, this is a habit of mine, even when I blog normally) and even painstakingly opened photo by photo in my blackberry until I found the one i wanted to insert in the post.

And then I proceeded to publish my post, excitement building up.

Then I got this message:

Local Drafts Cannot be Sent

Which was weird, because obviously it would still be a draft by default. But I let the issue go, and changed the status to “published” – which already pissed me off because these things are supposed to be automatic.

So I clicked “Submit” again.

And the data got sent again, a process which took AGES.

And when it FINALLY stopped, it showed me this:

*speechless*

And this made me get out of the comfy, warm bed. My initial intention was to blog about me being sick from the comfort of my bed. But it turned out, the exact same application that was supposed to provide that convenience made me get out of bed, turn on my laptop and blog about the bugs I’ve found in the application.

Ironic, isn’t it?

I hope the developers will look into this issue and fix the crap out of it. Because I easily blogged from my iTouch using the WordPress App and I didn’t even encounter a single problem. Shame on you.

p/s: And no, I am still not switching to iPhone, because I still have my itouch with all my apps.

It has become a great conversation starter as well as gotten both dirty and envious looks. And tomorrow marks its 6th month of becoming my personal strawBerry.

I can’t believe I’ve had it for 6 months and only blogging about it now. Well better late than never.

So this was strawBerry, when I just bought it. Fresh out of the box and into my eager hands. Just that these eager hands had absolutely no idea how to work the phone! Smart phones seriously make you look stupid. But being a tech savvy girl (cough cough, i work for a website so that counts as tech savvy!), I quickly got the hang of it and have enjoyed every single moment of Blackberry-dom.

But of course, I couldn’t wait to turn my blackberry into a girl. On the same day itself, I bought a lovely pink housing (matches my laptop, external hard disc and Nintendo DS) off ebay. But of course that took AGES to arrive.

So in the meantime, I found a pink theme to appease myself.

And then one day.. jeng jeng jengggggg! Look who is peeking so shyly from inside the black leather casing?

How pretty is my phone! But I eventually peeled off the sticker that is on the area where the camera is (I don’t know the proper name but it’s at the top of the phone – where the word Blackberry is) because it was slightly scratched off. Fine by me! It looks fine as a pink and black phone anyway.

This is strawBerry with a pink and green Cherry Berry theme (still it’s current theme).

And of course with time, the paint on the sides of the housing began to get scraped off. I haven’t had the time to shop for another set of blackberry housing so I made my blackberry put some clothes on.

It is now wearing a pink silicon cover.

I am sure by now most of you have heard about the miracle of the century involving my beloved itouch.

Well, perhaps you’ve heard gists of it because I didn’t go into great detail in Facebook, Twitter or MSN. So let’s get down to it. You must be dying to know what exactly happened, you stalker.

On Tuesday evening after a long, tiring day at work, I decided to take a cab despite the fact that I had initially thought that I was game enough for a bus ride.

But of course I wasn’t. It had been a crazy week and I was mentally and physically exhausted. So I took a cab.

I started to take out my itouch to listen to some music when two things happen simultaneously:

1) I realized that the music in the cab was pretty alright
2) My phone rang, it was FP

So in all eagerness to tell him about my day (and that day was full of.. interesting points of information), I answered my phone and told him all about my day! Hahaha

We were on the phone until after I got off the cab. The ironic thing is that before I made my walk into the mall, I took one look back at the cab (after the door was closed) and didn’t think I saw anything.

I didn’t realize Magic Touch was missing, until later that night when I was ready to settle down and read or play games. It occurred to me that I could actually insert all my Gossip Girl episodes into my itouch and was excited beyond words.

I scrambled to get my bag and dug through. My bag is full of things inside so I do have to dig through most of the time. But the familiar feel of my Victoria Secrets drawstring bag wasn’t there.

Panic. Searched again. Searched around the house in case I took it out. Remembered that I didn’t. Thought back. Perhaps I left it in the office in the rush to get out. Could it be I had left it in the cab?

For some reason I was more attuned to the possibility that I left it in the office so I went to bed with that assurance and quiet confidence.

FP wasn’t even angry at this point of time, because he thought I left it in the office too.

But apparently I didn’t. It wasn’t on my desk, it wasn’t anywhere.

I started to sob uncontrollably when I realized that it might be gone, that I might just have lost the one true gadget that I’ve fallen so hard for.

And it was a gift from FP on my last birthday. So for all these sentimental values and the fact that it was (and is!) my best gadget buddy ever, I sobbed for the lost. Right there in the office.

I told FP in the best way I could. And of course he got furious. He’s furious because I’m always so careless and apparently do not know how to look after my things.

I sobbed even more because for once, I did look after my itouch. It’s the one thing I treasure. But of course he didn’t want to hear that.

To make things worse, I still couldn’t recall if I dropped it in the cab or left it in the office. But with urges from FP to make a report to the cab company despite the fact that it is probably too late then.

I have to say that it is by sheer luck that I called the right cab company, because I can hardly remember which cab company the cab I was in was from. So I was literally crawling in the dark with this one.

I couldn’t even remember the colour of the cab, but I told the operator it was blue, and hoped it was the truth. However other info such as alighting and boarding points, time, the fare – fell into place.

I gave them a detailed description of my itouch and the drawstring back, and they told me they would call if they find it.

I ended the call without much hope or peace of mind. I wondered if I even called the right cab company. I soon forgot about it, as sad as I was.

I thought of the applications installed that only I might have use for. I thought about all my songs and the impressive album art that I painstakingly did.

I slowly (despite the fact that I refused to do so) accepted the fact that it might be gone.

At about almost 6, I called them again to check but a recorded message told me they were closed for the day. Sigh.

5 minutes later. My phone rang. It was from the number I just called.

And they told me, my dearest gadget was with them – safe and sound! I was shocked and thrilled beyond words!

Firstly because, I made the report blindly and I could have called the wrong cab company. And secondly, I couldn’t believe that nobody took it!

I don’t know if someone passed it to the driver upon seeing it or if it was discovered by the cab driver himself.

Whoever it is, Thank you from the very bottom of my heart You have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you for being so honest and kindhearted. I’ll never forget this.

On a side note, this also means that Magic Touch and I are destined to be together.

Lesson learned: Miracles do happen. You just have to stay positive and calm at all costs.

I’ve been wanting to get either an external hard drive or a thumb drive because (you know), they come useful at times.

So while I was in a dire need to get new pairs of shoes, (but due to my incredible fussy powers, my search for shoes have been going on for months to know avail) I got myself this instead:

Isn’t it a gorgeous gem? I love how it lights up when it’s plugged into my lappie. So so pretty.

Me loves. Oh yes, me loves!

I’ve always believed that having nice attractive things around you makes you happier. See, this could have been a boring black hard drive. But no, it’s like the princess of all hard drives!

And it matches my.. entire set of gadgets, which can be used all at the same time.

(This excludes my pink camera, and pink Nintendo DS)

Doesn’t that make you HAPPY already?

Who says you can’t girlify technology? You just have to find a way to do it!

And perhaps there is something wrong with me, deriving so much joy from gadgets, when really – I should be out there buying shoes!

One of my favourite iTouch (and okay, iPhone) applications is Pocket God. Every one of us has a sadistic side and this game appeals to that side of you that is often hidden from society. Have you ever felt like flinging that person irritating you into a volcano? Or wished he would get struck by lightning? How about feeding him to the sharks?

Well now you can! Without breaking any laws

Ok basically the setting for this game is on an island that can hold up to 6 islanders at any one time.

There’s so many things to do to vent your anger on these innocent islanders! You could…

1) Pour hot lava on them, after flinging 3 of them into the volcano. Flinging them takes a bit of practice but it is very satisfying, especially on an angry day. And it is made complete when the volcano erupts and lava falls over the island, throwing them in a panic frenzy.

2) Make them get struck by lightning. This is fairly simple to understand, no? Smite them! Smite them!

3) Turn one into the vampire and he will be on a rampage to throw everyone off the island.

4) Feed them to the sharks. Head first. You can do this in two ways: Dangle the islander over the waters and wait for Mr. Shark to jump up and bite them OR you could dangle the shark over them and watch it chomp on them. Yummy.

There are so much more danger that you can inflict on them. Such as:

1) Stir up a hurricane and make them go swirling round and round in the air.
2) After letting the vampire have fun shoving everybody off the island, it’s time to let him have some sunshine. Watch him shatter!
3) Make them cling on to dear life by turning your itouch or iphone upside down. And give them a little earthquake by shaking your gadget
4) Squash them with a meteor
5) Crack open coconuts with the help of islanders’ heads
6) Take islanders to great heights and then let them go. Before you let go, swing them around and round.

Okay I’m starting to sound like an evil person so I’m going stop. It’s really an enjoyable app and it’s great for anger management. It’s better than losing your temper out in the open, no?

By the time you are done torturing your islanders, your anger will be half forgotten.

A win-win situation, don’t you think?

It just so happens that today is FP and my 71st month together. Yeap, just one more month to our 6 year anniversary. Time really flies

He got me my present yesterday, and it wasn’t meant to be a surprise because I wanted it as a present because I am sick. Sprained ankles = no joke, u know?? So I’ve been badgering him for a gift just because I was.. am momentarily an invalid. But since he gave it to me on our monthvesary, it can be a gift for both occasions.

It’s so adorable, don’t you think? I love, love, love it! Now, if only it comes with s strap (like a lanyard). I would wear it round my neck and pretend its a real camera. LOL. It will not only be a chic accessory, it’s handy if I want to store things on the go!

But, turns out there’s no way to hang a strap anywhere. Like who would dump this in a big back full of knicks and knacks like mine and risk getting any piece broken?

It’s a camera! Of course it needs a strap, just like any other self respecting camera.

Why didn’t Canon think of this when developing this product?
