Herp Derp

Had a random photoshoot today, despite me not being in the mood for smiles the entire day.

Personally I think this photo does not look like me at all, I have no idea why. Maybe it’s just me. It’s like my face looks a little too long and that I look almost Japanese.

If you think it’s the glasses that makes me look different, well that’s because those glasses aren’t mine. They belong to FP. I was wearing his too-big-for-me glasses while wearing my contact lenses (with similar degrees to his glasses) so it’s as if I was wearing 2 pairs of glasses.

Needless to say, I had a bit of a headache after the photoshoot was over.

And because the glasses were too big for me, I had to hold it up that way so it stays there, lol.

But I kinda like this photo because it’s quirky instead of another pretty photo. Pretty photos are normally taken on my own with my camera and/or blackberry – in the form of camwhoring.

casual-read

I love this photo. It was taken during an impromptu photoshoot that was set up in the back seat of a car.

It was a long drive so while I found myself in a relaxed pose equipped with a book, FP decided to set up his equipment right at the backseat and he just kept snapping photos. I didn’t even pose for a single shot, I just minded my own business reading my book.

Perhaps that is precisely the reason why I love this photo. How natural and relaxing it looks. I was curled up in the corner of the backseat, reading trashy chick lit (seriously). I was at my natural relaxed state.

I was at my natural best :D

It is indeed a very serene photo, that speaks volume about personal time and space. And about just being relaxed and unguarded.

Or maybe, just like many other things, I’m just reading too much into the picture. But, a picture is worth a thousand words, no?

prawn

This photo was so well taken (just at the right moment), that I have to post it up here. Thanks Kawan E! :)

In case the rest of you are wondering what exactly is going on in the photo, we went prawn fishing on one of the weekends a couple of months back. And what you saw in the photo above is basically the first prawn that FP and I caught together! of course I got all excited. Little things like this get me all revved up for no reason at all, lol.

And just as I was about to hold our little baby prawn, it PINCHED me.

While it wasn’t that painful, it was certainly a shocker that caused me to shriek. And that was the very moment this photo was snapped.

There’s always a story behind every photo, don’t you think? :)

While prawning is a novel activity for me, it actually bored me (a reaction that was already anticipated by FP long before we all decided to go prawn fishing). I got bored because we had to wait and wait for the little prawns to bite the bait. And I hate waiting as a norm :P

But we managed to catch 3-4 prawns that day, which was quite an achievement because it started raining so heavily all of a sudden. The rain was so heavy that we were forced to stop prawning (thank god!). We got so drenched and was all wet!

At first our hero here tried to well – be a hero and continued to prawn. But we soon discovered it is even harder in the rain (albeit more challenging) because the waters become very choppy and it became difficult to tell if the prawns are biting the bait or not. Oh well.

prawn-in-rain

LOL, that’s a photo of us braving the rain. As if my hoodie will prevent me from getting all wet hahaha! Due to the sudden thunderstorm and heavy rain, we were forced to stop. But we still have another hour on the tab. So till next time.

When is next time, Kawan E, Kawan C and FP?

:D

My recent trip to Jakarta was slightly different than previous ones. No, I am not talking about random earthquakes and fasting in another country. It’s something else.

This time round I have fans waiting ardently for me, no kidding.

Never before in my life have I been greeted by starstruck eyes while shaking hands.

Or have people so eager to take photos with me. (I do love taking photos by default, camwhore even. But having people asking to take photos with me just made me feel like a star hahahahaha!)

Before my trip, I haven’t met any of my “fans” before, mainly because they are new members to my team. So they read this humble blog of mine. Surprisingly, after reading my blog, they became inspired to update their own blogs!

I must be doing something right with this blog to inspire young budding bloggers to blog. And I’m happy that my simple effort of jotting down my thoughts has inspired others.

It’s these small things that makes everything worthwhile when you think about it.

It is really nice to feel looked up to, welcomed and adored. Not that I do not adore them, I do! <3!

So here they are, my cute and lovely fans (hehehe):

fan girls

It was really nice to have met you girls, not because of the attention or gifts – but because all of you are really nice girls :)

Thanks for the love and laughter. More photos next time, alright? :D

Found this really nice quote that echoes nothing but honesty:

When I was 5 years old, mum always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up.

I wrote “happy”.

They told me I didn’t understand the assignment.

I told them they didn’t understand life.

How true. Looking at the photo above of an adorable child (which happens to be me) smiling like there’s no worry in the world, you might think her perception of life is the most ideal.

Perhaps it was. Would this little girl know that one day her heart will break? That she will get hurt? That there are people in this world who are envious, evil and manipulative? That her hair, skin, eye sight will not be as perfect as it was on that fine day she stood happily with an umbrella on a car?

Of course she didn’t. She didn’t know that one day she would lose people who love her dearly, in a natural and inevitable way. That one day, she will not be under a sheltered umbrella despite being protected all her life. First by her family who guarded her with their lives and then by a loving boyfriend that makes it his mission to make sure nothing happens to her.

But at that moment, nothing seems to matter to her. Her attention is only spared to posing prettily and smiling unknowingly the prettiest smile there ever was. There’s no words to describe this photo really. There’s an innocence so profound that it goes straight to your soul. The happiness that exudes from her smile is genuine. Nothing fake, nothing sarcastic or smile. Such is the sincerity of a child.

Even today when she’s all grown up, she has not given up on happiness. She only wants to be happy, and that is all that matters.

Happiness is such a simple concept yet it is also the hardest to achieve. Happiness cannot be bought with riches or popularity. It can only be attained when deep inside, you are self-contented and self-satisfied.

I wish I can go through everyday with such a genuine, heartwarming smile without snide and sarcastic thoughts in my head. I wish I have that simple innocence that trusts everyone and have that carefree feeling , without fear of tripping and failing.

I really miss being a child, and perhaps to some extent, I never really grew up. Of course I can’t show my child-like qualities at work or with the family (when I am supposed to be the eldest). But with FP, all walls of insecurity and self-defence is broken and I become my true self. I feel carefree, child-like and playful. The strong bond between FP and I breaks barriers and I feel free to be who I am.

Why?

Because he makes me feel safe and loved.

Just like that little girl, on a car, under an umbrella – many, many years ago.

Here’s a photo that isn’t part of the 50 Weeks of Her series (but seriously should have been!)

This should have been Week 5′s photo, but FP discovered this photo amongst all the out takes much later. Apparently, the effect in this photo is called Urban Acid (Don’t look at me, I’m just a pseudo model who just sprouts out fantastic sounding words like this without knowing what it means lol).

I really like this photo. I look tall (lol) and it looks like a high fashion magazine ad. No, I do not look like a high fashion anything in real life. Hahaha!

Just wanted to share this photo because FP takes the nicest photos of me ;)

We technically didn’t have a shoot for Week 6 so this weekend, we’ll do the shoot for it. Nobody said it has to be 50 consecutive week, hehe.

So, as I have mentioned in my previous post, we did more than one photoshoot last weekend.

My cousin, Ika, joined us for the other shoot. Pretty fun outing, it was nice having other people around during shoots.

FP captured some really awesome shots of Ika, which made the trip out worthwhile:

I think this was his best shot for the day. All he asked her to do was pose as a rock star (lol) – well because she is a rock star ;)

I love the clouds, really pretty and picture perfect.

On the other hand, I love this shot of Ika just laughing. There’s a very carefree quality that seems to exude from this photo. Very nice.

It seems that we laughed aplenty during the shoot:

I really forgot what we both were laughing at for the photo above, but for the one below she was laughing at me because my face (according to her) looks hilarious. LOL.

One last photo to pin up here:

Please note that this isn’t really the final product. It’s a work in progress, a concept that has yet to be perfected.

I really, really like this photo. But apparently, the flaw was it would have been better if Ika had been looking up at me. We can always try again next time to perfect this concept :)

Did you see the pretty bubbles in the photo? I couldn’t stop trying to blow bubbles. I love bubbles, and for the longest time in my childhood, I thought I was a Bubble Princess. Hahahaha!

So go get a big bottle of bubble solution today ($3.90 from Kiddy Palace) and embrace your childhood once again!

(okay, promise – this one is the final photo for this post!)
