2012 Resolutions

New year, new resolutions. So for 2012, I resolve to:

Keep a healthy lifestyle
This will mean a healthy diet and frequent exercising. I had a staggering headstart last year to eat healthy and start running, but it wasn’t a continuous and consistent effort. This year, all’s that gonna change. FP and I gave ourselves till end of April to see some difference in our fitness levels and weight.

Be an early riser
A complete stretch because I am definitely NOT a morning person. Have you seen me on mornings after a night of little sleep? Maybe a more realistic resolution is “do not press the snooze button”!

Join a marathon
Although I may not be the fittest person around (ever), I’ve always wanted to be in a marathon of some sort. And now that running on a regular basis in on my agenda, surviving a marathon should be quite a possibility.

Rekindle my love for craft
In 2011, I hardly crafted, barely sewed – nothing creative that’s time consuming and handmade was produced. So this year, I shall bring the crafts back to life. Hello felt projects, scrapbooking and anything else that comes my way!

Don’t sweat the small stuff
This is a repeat of a resolution I made in 2010. I do not like making mistakes being the perfectionist that I am, but sometimes I do need to let things go. And most of the time, I get annoyed by a million little things that shouldn’t even affect me. I need to take a deep breathe and tell myself that whether or not I believe it, most of the time it’s only me who is bothered by such details that aren’t worth my time.

Soak in the culture
Read more, travel more, watch more theater productions, view more exhibits at museums. These are basically the things that make me happy and that I’ve always been interested in. So why not kill two birds with one stone?

So I guess that’s it for this year. Possibly the shortest list of new year resolutions by far, but its quality vs quantity right?

New Year’s Resolutions 2011

A new year offers the chance for everybody to start over, on a clean slate – another try to get things right.

2010 has been mostly awful to me, but I’ve decided that it’s all in the past and I have a new, exciting year ahead of me that will be (whether I like it or not) be filled with new mistakes, tears, joys and lessons.

Looking back at last year’s resolutions, I realize that I didn’t break some of them, and I added a few more along the way in my head. So even though it’s my personal belief that resolutions are made to be broken, I do love making them. Because it feels good when you look back and discover that I actually managed to keep some of them. Oh yeah, I love proving myself wrong.

So here are my resolutions for the year 2011:

1. Smile more and smile everyday. This means to be less grouchy-moody-broody-emo. Broody does not equal sexy, so I’ve discovered. Well at least not for me.

2. Not to sweat the small stuff. This will help me achieve resolution #1

3. Drink more/enough water. I recycle this resolution every year. I mean if I can give up coffee (my one true addiction) quite effortlessly, this resolution is a no brainer right?

4. Blog everyday. I know this is quite far fetched and I’ll probably wean off it once my Short Attention Syndrome hits, but I’m gonna give it a go anyway. Because daily blog post = more interesting year end blog post :)

5. To take less cab rides. You have no idea just how much I spent on cab fare alone in 2010. Even I have no idea how much I spent, but I know it’s a hell of a lot. So yes, more power to buses and trains.

6. To wake up earlier. This is important because when you wake up late, your whole morning gets screwed up because you tend to rush, and when you rush things go all sorts of wrong. And you will take a cab to work (major no-no for 2011!!!)

7. To cook. This is a recycled resolution (sort of) from last year. But what I meant by it this year, is that I will teach myself how to cook, self discovery. If I can teach myself to bake and sew, cooking should be easy peasy. In fact, I did cook this morning. Despite it being just instant noodles, it is a start.

8. To go for yoga regularly. For better fitness, to regain back my figure (no idea how I lost it),because I’ve already paid for the membership and it’s pretty near my new workplace – there is simply no excuses this time.

9. Take up photography. This means getting a proper camera and getting started on photoshop. Yeah I’m artistic, creative and all that jazz (haha) – but I still think I need to take up proper skills.

10. Not to hate almost everybody. There will always be unlikeable people wherever I go, so might as well make the best of it. I may be more of an observer than a people person, but if I try finding just one thing to like about everybody I meet, I may have a better social life.

11. Work hard, play hard, love hard. I’m gonna divide my time well this year and do the best in all aspects of my life – As a girlfriend, daughter, cousin, granddaughter, niece, employee. I will also have time for myself – which is always a must.

So there you have it: 11 resolutions for 2011.

Hoping that there’ll be self-satisfaction when I look back at this list, knowing that I’ve tried my best fulfilling them.

Here’s to an awesome 2011!

2010 – New Year, New Resolutions.

I’m back from a really fun-filled and completely impromptu Malaysia trip. I haven’t been in Singapore since New Year’s Eve so the new year practically begins for me now.

(Blog post abt Malaysia Trip – 3 cities in 3 days will come later. Awaiting pics from official photographer)

So anyway, with a new year comes new resolutions. And I am normally pretty good with resolutions so here goes:

1. I will take better care of myself. This means drinking enough water, getting enough sleep and putting myself before others when the need arises.

2. I will not let the small things bug me. This means I have to be more patient and not get angry and upset easily.

3. I will not let idiots get the better of me. There are too many idiots and only one me. If I let them get to me, they will trample all over me.

4. I will be a happy person.

5. I will not be late for work.

6. Which brings us to: I will not wake up late in the morning.

7. I will not let anybody push me around. I am not a pushover (anymore).

8. I will not try to strive for perfection every time. It’s okay to make mistakes.

9. Since I learned how to bake last year, I will learn how to cook this year!

10. I will take up an enrichment course of any kind (learn a language perhaps? or learn a new craft?)

11. I will blog regularly.

That’s the eleven that I can think of right now. There might be more along the way and will add on as we go along.

I hope I can keep all these 10, especially about me not being late for work hehehe.

Have a great new year guys and girls. 2010 will be an awesome year, you just know it.
